Q: Do I need a visa to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and/or Myanmar?

A: Visitors must obtain a visa prior to entry.

 Visa for Vietnam: A tourist visa for Vietnam can be obtained from any Vietnam embassy or consulate office worldwide. The tourist visas are valid for 30 days and may be extended through our head office in Vietnam., Ausviet Tours can help you to apply for a visa approval code or visa letter before arrival.  Visa for Myanmar
: A tourist visa for Myanmar can be obtained from any Myanmar embassy or consulate office worldwide. A tourist visa allows a stay of 28 days extendable for an additional 14 days. Infants and children require a separate visa even traveling on parent's passport. Visa on Arrival is available with pre-arrangement. This is a special procedure by the Immigration Department called Pre-arranged Visa on Arrival.

 Visa for Cambodia: Each person is required to furnish 2 photos and a payment of 20usd for visa payment at the international airport. Arrangements can be finalized within 15mins.

Visa for Laos:
 Each person is required to furnish 2 photos and a payment of 30usd for visa payment at the international airport. Arrangements can be finalized within 15mins.

Q: There are no Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in our country, so how to arrange for a visa for me? 

A: We can assist you in obtaining a visa prior to your arrival in Vietnam. A Letter of permission to enter Vietnam will be issued to you. Show it to the Immigrations and upon confirmation, you will be cleared from Customs. Just please provide to us all following information:

 1. Your title (Mr./Mrs./Ms.)
 2. Your name as shown in your passport  
 2. Date of birth
 3. Nationality
 4. Occupation
 5. Passport No (valid at least 06 months) 
 6. Date of Passport issued
 7. Date of Passport expired
 8.  Date of arrival
 9.  Flight Ref.
10.  City or country upon arrival -  Example: Hanoi or Hochiminh city or Vietnam
11.  Purpose of visit (Vacation/Business/ Visit family)

Notes: please make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months and  have 2 blank pages.


Q. Can I use a credit card to withdraw cash in Vietnam? 
A. Yes, but you can only withdraw local currency (Vietnamese Dong) from any major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, etc but you might encounter some difficulties if you are touring rural areas, Please note that all credit card withdrawals and transactions in Vietnam are subject to a 3% surcharge (3.9% for Amex).

Q. Can I pay by credit card in Vietnam?
A. Yes, hotels, international restaurants and some souvenir shops do accept Visa or MasterCard payments but it is wise for you to have another mode of payment like cash available at all times

Q. What about travelers cheques?
A. Travelers cheques and cash in any international currency can be exchanged into local Vietnamese currency at all major banks. Some hotels do accept travelers cheques.

Q. Where can I change my currency for local currency?
A. In the airport, banks or shops licensed to sell gold - exchange rates are very similar. Steer clear of street moneychangers; there is a risk of getting forged notes

Q. What if I have a lot of local currency left over before I leave?
A. You can exchange the local currency back in the airport, banks or shops licensed to sell gold - exchange rates are very similar. Steer clear of street moneychangers, there is a risk of getting forged notes. The amount you exchange back to your country currency must be less than the original amount that you have exchanged.


Q. What can I do about jet lag?
A. Not much, really. A stop-over en-route or a day's rest after arrival helps.

Q. What if there is an emergency?
A. With Ausviet Tours, your tour guide will always have a mobile phone that u can contact if you require immediate assistance. You will also have direct telephone access to our Ausviet Tours Head office. And you will have a personal tour operator whenever necessary contactable 24 hours a day should you have any further enquiries

Q. How will medical emergencies be dealt with?
A. You will be taken to the nearest international clinic or hospital for an immediate examination and appropriate treatment according to the terms of your insurance.

Q. What if I am hospitalized or become incapacitated?
A. If you have provided us with the details of your insurance, we will contact the company on your behalf and assist in any way we can.

Q. What about enquiry on malaria?

A. We are not medical experts, so we cannot advise you. We will consult a trustworthy local international medical practice to provide an up-to-date report

 Q. Do you recommend purchasing Travel Insurance?

A: We strongly recommend that all clients take up a comprehensive travel insurance when making a booking. We recommend that insurance covers loss of deposit though cancellation, medical illnesses, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal baggage, loss of money and additional expenses to cover hotel accommodation repatriation or other insurance risk.

Q. Can I travel freely in Vietnam?
A. A few areas are closed for security reasons and others require a permit. If you travel with Ausviet Tours, we will complete all necessary paperwork and permission procedures on your behalf should you request for it.

Q. Can I ride a motorbike in Vietnam?
A. Officially, not without a Vietnamese license. An international license is not acceptable as a substitute. The police generally turn a blind eye to foreigners, but not always!

Q. Can I hire a motorbike in Vietnam?
A. Yes but you must have a converted driving license to drive in Vietnam. If caught without one, you will be fine on the spot by the traffic police. Insurance does not cover damage or theft. So you will be liable to pay for any damage or theft.

Q. Is it safe to ride a motorcycle in Vietnam?
A. Not really. 80% of the 20,000 or so serious traffic accidents per year in Vietnam are caused or involves motorcyclist. Rules and regulations are often ignored.

Q. Can I get a license to drive in Vietnam?
A. Yes but not easy. An international driving license can be converted but the document must be translated and certified. A protracted and complicated procedure.

Q. Can I drive a car in Vietnam?
A. Yes but only with a Vietnamese license or a converted international license. However, there are no car rental agencies. An advertisement for car rental means a car that includes a driver.


Q. I am restricted to a special diet. How will I cope in Vietnam?
A.  If you travel with Ausviet Tours, you can give us your preferred choice of meals. We will instruct all the hotels and restaurants to cook your preferred meals. Our guides will also be briefed.

Q. I am a vegetarian. What are the options for me?
A. Despite Vietnam being a Buddhist country, we are short of vegetarian restaurants. However, there are a few in the larger cities that provide good vegetarian food.

 Q. Which meals are included? And what type of restaurants we dine in?

A: Breakfast is included in the hotel and others meals included as stated in the program. We use local restaurants for all our trips. We select restaurants based on our experience, satisfaction, food taste and locations


Q. How do I make a reservation with you?

A: Making a reservation online with Ausviet Tours is easy.  Simply fill in and send the booking form to us and provide us a valid credit card number. Once we receive your request, we will contact you with the full details and shall process your reservation within 12 hours. After receiving your acknowledgement, we will then move forward requesting the collection of your deposit and thereafter send you the service voucher to complete the booking reservation.

The booking  forAusviet Tours will requires payment by a credit card or bank transfer.

Q. Can I make changes to my itinerary after I arrive?
A. Yes, we will give you a quotation and issue a receipt or refund for the changes. We consider minor changes as part of our service and we do not levy a surcharge in such circumstances.                

Q. What if the preferred hotel is not available?
A: You will be notified via e-mail within 24 hours after placing your order and we will do our best to provide you with a similar type of hotel

Q.  How much time is needed to make a reservation?

A:  We cannot guarantee reservations made within 3 working day (not including Sunday and holidays). The sooner you make your reservations, the faster your application can be approved on a earlier date.           

Q. How far ahead can I book for a tour?

A: You can book 24 months in advance.

QCan I make reservations for someone else?
A:  Yes you can. To make a reservation for someone, simply type the name instead of your name. We will require the payment by bank transfer. Do not forget to use your email address to receive your confirmation.

Q. What happens to my reservation for the trip if my flight is delayed?
A: Kindly inform us as soon as possible so that we can render the changes as quickly as possible and provide you with assistance when your flight arrives.

Q.  Is it safe to book online?
A:  Our online reservations are safe using SSL security (128bit) and done so without compromising security. All your details are strictly kept confidential.

Q: I wish to make a booking on your tour packages and want to know if the existing rates are still valid?
A: All rates on our website are valid as shown in each item and subject to confirmation and availability from Ausviet Tours.

Q:  Who is my guide?
A: You will be provided with qualified and experienced local guides who are experienced in guiding tours in Vietnam. He or she speaks good English and has vast knowledge about the destinations you are visiting in. He or she is fully licensed in tour guiding by the government.  All of them are carefully selected and trained. They are well-educated and enthusiastic young people. Our guides speak Chinese, Italian, English, French, Spanish, Russian and German, etc. Many of  them speak more than one language. We have guides from the region. Upon arrival at the airport, a local guide will meet you and  be your escort for your stay in that particular city. However, you have the option of hiring a guide or a tour leader who will accompany you throughout the duration of your tour.

Q:  What are the different room categories? 

A: Unless stated otherwise, generally hotels tend to rate their bedrooms in  four different categories: Standard, Superior, Deluxe or Premium bedrooms
     The actual differences between the bedrooms varies from one hotel to another, with executive being the best room. 

    Single Room

   A single room is designed to accommodate one person only. The room contains 1 single or twin bed. 

   Double Room
   A double room is designed to accommodate two people only. The room contains 1 queen or king size bed. If not available then a twin bed .will be provided.

   Twin Room
   A twin room is designed to accommodate two people only. The room contains 2 single beds. If not available then a king size bed. will be provided.
  Triple Room 
A triple room is designed to accommodate three people only. The room contains 1 queen size bed and 1 single bed or 3 single beds
  Quad Room
  A quad room is designed to accommodate four people only. The room contains 2 queen beds or 1 queen size and 2 single beds or 4 single beds
"Run Of House" is abbreviated as "ROH" includes the most common or standard type of room category in the hotel with basic amenities. Your room will be determined by the hotel, based on the availability at the time of check-in.

Please specify the type of rooms you require when sending in your reservation form. We can also assist you if you need accommodation for more than 4 persons in a room. Please specify the number of people in your group when completing your reservation request form. 

Q.  What is the difference between adjoining room and connecting room?
A: Both of them are appropriate for family and a couple of friends who wishes to stay together or near each other. Connecting room means there are 2 separate rooms connected by a door. Adjoining room which includes 2 rooms connected by a door but has only one main entrance door.

Q. What are the check in and checkout times?

A: Normal policy of hotels for check in is from 14:00 hours while the check out time is before Noon (12:00 hrs.). 
     Early check in or check out can be arranged subject to availability for rooms. Surcharge will be levied for this service


Q. Do children receive discounted rates?
A: Yes, children enjoy discount from us.
•           Child from 1- 4 yrs: Free of charge if sharing bed with parents 

•           Child from 5 – 6 yrs: 30% of adult price if sharing existing bed(s) with parents

•           Child from 5 – 6 yrs: 50% of adult price if using extra bed/mattress in parents’ room

•           Child from 7 – 11 yrs: 75% of adult price if using extra bed/mattress in parents’ room

•           Child from 12 yrs up: pay as adult rate

Q. Do children under 12 years old able to stay in the same room with their parents?
A: Generally children under 12 years of age stay for free in their parent's room using the existing beds. Age requirement differs depending on the specific hotel's policy. 
The general policy concerning the charging of room and breakfast charges for children traveling together with their parents or family are as follows.
Children more than 12 years of age: Any child this age that is considered an adult by the travel industry. Normal charges will apply both for the room and the breakfast.
Free baby cot are only suitable for toddler under 2 years old


Q: What happens when I make a reservation?
A: Upon receiving your booking using the details of credit cards you have provided, we will start to process the booking. All reservations will be followed up within 12 business hours with emails to inform you of your confirmed reservation.

A: Once the service you have booked is confirmed, we will send you by email a service voucher detailing all the reservation and price conditions. We request you print out this service voucher to be kept and presented when requested. Your voucher will be accompanied by a booking confirmation number. Make sure to have it presented upon arrival or check in at the hotel. 

Q:  How long does it take to get a confirmation?

A: You will get a confirmation within 12 business hours except for special cases like offer periods, high season, or special events.


 Q: What is your cancellation policy for hotels/tours reservations?
A: If unexpected circumstances should arise and impact your holiday plans, we would be glad to assist you with the cancellation procedures and refund your money. Our rates of refund are derived from our suppliers' requirements. Please find more details in our cancellation policy. For authentication purposes, only written cancellation  (e-mail or fax) will be accepted. The refund will be made through bank transfer or credit card, depending on the original method of purchase. Banks will levy a  service charge from you for your cancellation. 

Q: How about the Credit Cards Refunds?
A: Please note that refunds will be made in the form of a credit to your card account. All credit card refunds will be processed in a timely manner. The refunds process is dependent on your billing cycle with the credit card company. Once the refund instructions leave our office it can take anywhere from 15-45 working days for the proceeds to arrive in your account. For more information of the refund, feel free to contact our accounting department by email.

Q. Can I change the travel dates after being issued the tickets and hotel vouchers? 
A: Packages usually have certain booking terms and restrictions and date change may be subject to charges or even not permitted.


Q: How safe are my credit card details?
A: The concern of security for our clients is of utmost importance to us. We exercise great caution in providing secure transactions from your computer to our server. We  use SSL and our site is secure for all transaction. Unfortunately, no transaction is 100% secure. We are committed to protect you and your personal information. We will continue to monitor and update our security and safety protocols.

Q.  What do you do with my personal information?
A: We have the utmost respect for your privacy and security. We never divulge any information to anyone without your consent. We take the issues of privacy and security very seriously 


Q.  Are the departures meant for a minimum departure of 2 persons? 
A: Yes, most of our tours departures are privates or small groups; we guarantee departure of 2 people for our monthly scheduled tours.

Q: What credit / debit cards are accepted?
A:  We currently accept Visa and Master credit cards with 3%  and 4% (Applied for American Express) .

Q:  When will the charges for the deposit and the full cost of the tour are charged to my visa or mastercard? 
A: Once we have received your credit card details, we will check with our bank, in order to guarantee / secure your booking, we will then process your booking, When your booking is confirmed, we will charge 30% of your tour cost as deposit from your credit card for the reservation immediately. A full amount of the cost of your trip has to be settled in full 30 days before the departure of your tour. Please note that we only charge your credits card after having supplied you with a confirmation email for your reservations.

Q:  Can I pay by cash upon on arrival, traveler cheques, bank draft, bank transfer? 
A: All our tours packages and hotels operate on pre- paid basis. You can only pay by cash upon on arrival for seeking alternate payment modes after approval from AustViet Tours. If you wish to make wired bank transfer, please transfer to our nominated bank account (will be advised later). 

Q: I have filled in my secure credit card payment form. Why do you still need my passport or a copy of 2 sides of my credit card?
A:For security reasons, your bank requires our bank in Vietnam an authorized credit card payment form, a copy of the card holder's passport or a copy of 2 sides of your credit card.

Q. Your company has our completed credit card payment form. Why are you still not able to charge the bill to our credit card? 
A: There are a few possibilities: 
    You have reached your credit limit. 
    You have filled in the incorrect information of your credit card. 
    Your credit card is not able to process transactions on the internet.

Q:  Why is the price different when i last check?
A: This normally depends on market conditions and currency fluctuations. During peak tourist season, convention, fairs etc, the prices are likely to change. The price of your reservation, once booked will be confirmed at the said price.

Q. I would like to pay USD cash on arrival and are happy to provide my credit card details as a guarantee for the booking. It is possible
A: We accept the method of payment which is the most convenient for our guests. You can pay us in cash on arrival. Paying credit card is just to guarantee your booking. However any cancellation at last minute will be automatically charged in full from your given credit card number


Q. I Am a Foreigner/Vietnamese Man. Can I Share a Room with a Vietnamese Lady/Ladies? 
A:  No, Vietnamese Law Requires a Marriage Certificate if  a Vietnamese lady were to spend  overnight with a man in a hotel

Q. Is it safe to travel in Vietnam? Can I travel solo?
A: Traveling in Vietnam is generally safe. You can travel solo. Women and independent travelers have found it relatively hassle-free and easy to travel throughout the country. However, when traveling anywhere in the country, travelers should exercise caution and common sense. Low crimes does not mean any crimes.

Q. Can I use my reward points from Accor, Mariott, Starwood, Hilton etc. on your site?
A: No. Only reservations made directly with the participated hotels can use reward points. However, if you are a Golden Lotus Member of Vietnam Airlines, you can accumulate points
with the selected and signed

Q. Are there any restrictions on photography in Vietnam?

A. Yes. Photography in or near military installations, airports or similar locations are prohibited. Anyone caught doing taking photographs in restricted areas will have the film, possibly the camera or camcorder confiscated, and even be arrested.

Q. Can I buy antiques in Vietnam?
A. Yes, provide it is less than a hundred years old. However, exporting an artifact that was made within the last century is not straightforward. There are experts on hand in the airport to verify the age of antiques. But the quality of fakes is very high, so anything that looks old is likely or liable to be confiscated.

Q. How can I take large items home with me – furniture or paintings, for example?
A. We are also registered for export and import activities. We will give you a quotation and arrange for the items to be properly crated, licensed for export and shipped or flown to your home address.

Q. Are there Internet facilities in Vietnam?
A. Yes, there are plenty in the cities and large towns but not in rural areas. Internet cafes are common and cheap for accessing the internet. Most large hotels have free internet access.(WIFI)

Q. Can i present a gift to someone who has done a good job?
A. This is a common query. If you want to show your appreciation to someone in the form of a gift. We will suggest something appropriate, even purchase and deliver it on your behalf, if necessary.

Q. I am from the United States. Will I face any hostility because of the our history during the Vietnam War? 
A. You will be surprised by the warmth by the reception given to you. We Vietnamese live in the present and look forward to the future – the war is history. We welcome all from any countries.   

Q. What is the attitude towards drugs in Vietnam?

A. The law is strict in Vietnam. The use of illegal narcotics is strictly forbidden under any circumstances. Anyone caught trafficking whether you are a Vietnamese or foreigner, faces execution.
